This film review focuses on interesting, educational information that demonstrates how women can face menopause without fear of discomfort or old age.

When I received Managing Menopause Naturally: What Everyone Needs to Know for review from True Mind, I wondered how I was going to get through 80 minutes of information on menopause. The subject seemed a bit dry to me and perhaps a bit premature to my almost-40-year-old self. Boy was I wrong. Not only was it interesting, but I discovered that every woman over 20 could benefit from viewing this.

The Presentation

It's obvious that someone put a lot of thought and work into the way the visuals and audio of this DVD are presented. From the menu, the viewer has the option of viewing the DVD in its entirety or by chapter. This is critical in this type of film because so much useful information is presented. I know I will be going back to it many times over. Sometimes I will want to be reminded of what my body is going through at certain stages, and sometimes I will want a reminder of certain types of food that will help balance my hormones naturally.

Images of women from the past and quotes about women and "The Change" add to the DVD's appeal. Women are strong and beautiful at all ages. This is a major theme in the DVD, and the images and quotes emphasize this. Male and female professionals from different ethnic backgrounds offer insight into various aspects of menopause. Each speak in short segments so it's easy to focus. Visual aids and images from marketplaces, landscapes, and people from around the world also help hold the viewer's attention.

Face Menopause With Grace - Even Anticipation

There is a statement in this DVD that I felt summed up the the DVD beautifully. One woman said that menopause is the end of our reproductive years not our productive years. The DVD showed how people from different cultures face menopause and also emphasizes how different it is for each individual. The negative effects of menopause are affected by lifestyle, food choices, and attitude.

The DVD explains what a body goes through as a woman gets older. It continues to offer suggestions for avoiding the negative effects of menopause both by synthetic means and by natural means, offering pros and cons for both.

This DVD is a treasure for women. Ignorance creates fear, and this eliminates the mystery that has shrouded menopause in generations past. It empowers viewers to take their own bodies seriously and see the changes not as a sign of becoming useless, but as a passage to freedom.
